Try this online tool to find out the speed of your broadband: Google Fiber speed test.

You need to find out your download speed. This is measured in ‘Mbps’ or ‘Mbits/s’ (‘megabits per second’). If your speed is lower than agreed on your current contract, we suggest contacting your supplier and requesting for it to be improved. You should always be getting the minimum guaranteed speeds stated on your contract. If your download speed is reflective of your contract, move to the next step.

Note: if your device is connected to the internet wirelessly using Wi-Fi then a weak signal could affect your results. Either connect the device directly to your router using an ethernet cable, or use a device that is as close to the Wi-Fi router (the box supplied by your internet provider that connects to the Internet) as possible. See our quick guide to Wi-Fi for more information.
