Podcast episode about technology in social care

A new episode of the Digital Health podcast Digital Health Unplugged is now live and features the use of technology in social care.

The episode talks about how important technology is for all providers and how it’s helped during the Covid-19 pandemic.

During the podcast host Andrea Downey is joined by:

  • Mandy Thorn, chair of Marches Care which owns care home The Uplands in Shropshire
  • Carey Bloomer, managing director of The Uplands
  • Keith Strahan, principal clinical lead for NHS Digital’s social care programme

Mandy and Carey talk about what technology they use at The Uplands. This includes being paperless, video conferencing to keep families connected and using artificial intelligence to detect pain. The podcast also discusses the importance of shared records and security.

The guests talk about NHS Digital’s Social Care Digital Pathfinders programme, which aims to support projects looking at standardising information. The project is developing digital ways of sharing information between multiple health and care organisations.

If you’re interested in adopting technology in your service, give the podcast a listen.

It is also available on Spotify, iTunes and Apple Podcasts.
