Guidance on improving internet connectivity in social care published

As organisations use more technology, we are often asked for advice on internet connectivity can be improved in social care organisations. We have therefore worked with NHSX and care providers to produce 3 quick guides on internet connectivity.

From GP video consultations to paperless note-taking and digital records, social care has undergone significant changes over the last 18 months, and we want to continue to support your journey to digital transformation. Having the right connectivity is the first step to unlocking the benefits that working digitally can bring. NHS Digital and NHSX conducted research with care homes and home care organisations throughout the pandemic. This research showed that many providers have difficulties in getting the internet speeds they need to use more technology – whether in a residential care setting, or when providing care in the community.

There are a lot of different options when it comes to improving internet connectivity in social care organisations and from feedback we know that this can seem overwhelming – so we’ve produced three quick guides to help you understand what you need to consider.

We are planning on continuing to update these pages to provide more information and to make them easier to navigate. You can find all of these materials on our internet connectivity pages. If you have questions or would like to contribute to this work please contact us.
