Sight and Sound Technology is the leading supplier of specialist technology, training and support for people with disabilities across the UK and Ireland.

This interactive webinar is the 5th in a series of 6 sessions that will explore the ever-evolving world of assistive technology. Note that it is not necessary to have attended previous sessions to attend this session.

We will be exploring more exciting developments within the world of assistive technology – this time from our friends at Freedom Scientific.

For over 20 years Freedom Scientific has provided access to printed text and computers for individuals with blindness and low vision. Their innovative technology is designed to promote independence, allowing blind and low vision users the same access to information as their sighted peers.

JAWS and ZoomText have become a lifeline for millions of Blind and VI computer users across the globe. For our next session, Sam and the 2 Stuart’s will be examining the latest improvements and additions to the software including the new Voice Assistant features, Sharky & Zoomy!

Voice Assistant provides a way to interact with JAWS and ZoomText in Windows 10 using speech input. You can ask Sharky or Zoomy to help you with various JAWS or ZoomText features using natural language and speech. This means that the same action can be performed using similar phrases instead of a single predefined voice command.

Unlike keyboard shortcuts, which can be hard to remember, natural voice commands are an easier way to interact with JAWS and ZoomText . Using voice input to control actions can also benefit users with any conditions that prevent or limit them from using a keyboard effectively.
