Being able to access clinical information about people using their services can help care providers to provide more appropriate care and support more efficiently. It enables care providers to understand people’s holistic health and care needs, and reduces the time that care staff spend searching for information from multiple sources, including GPs, hospitals and pharmacies.

An increasing number of shared or proxy access systems are connecting health and care colleagues. Systems include:

  • GP Connect
  • Local shared care records
  • Proxy access to GP records
  • Proxy access for medication ordering
  • Summary care records

This Better Security, Better Care webinar will explore what systems are available and in development, their benefits and how to access them.

The session will also cover how care providers can use the Data Security and Protection Toolkit to demonstrate that they are following good data and cyber security practice – which in turn can open up access to these new and emerging shared data systems.

The session will be chaired by Michelle Corrigan, Programme Director of the Better Security, Better Care programme.

Speakers will include:

  • Alison Taylor, Registered General Nurse and Senior Programme Manager, NHSX
  • Emma Lenden, Programme Manager, Access to Information at NHSX
  • Naheem Shan, Data Protection Officer & Head of Information Governance, Maria Mallaband Care Group

Who should attend

  • Care providers, nursing and care homes, domiciliary care, and clinical and non-clinical staff.
